The town of Blacksburg has a population north of 40,000 and is home to Virginia Tech, which was founded in 1872 and is a land-grant university. An incorporated town in Montgomery County, Blacksburg is a true college town located in Southwest Virginia and ranks No. 12 for Town-Gown Relations, according to The Princeton Review.

DOWNTOWN BLACKSBURG

The heart of Blacksburg is a vibrant spot to be, with restaurants, shops and hotels all around for Hokie faithful.

Iconic spots downtown include Top of the Stairs (TOTS), Cabo Fish Taco and The Cellar, while at First & Main, shopping, eating and entertainment are all encompassed there. One of the best spots in town is McClain's/B&B Theaters, which is a bowling alley, arcade, restaurant and movie theater all in one, making it tough to beat for the best entertainment around.

SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA

One of the more beautiful parts in all of Virginia, hiking various mountains, like the Cascades or Dragon's Tooth along the Appalachian Trail, are common things folks love to do in this spot in the Commonwealth.

From scenic views for sunsets and sunrises to people checking out Mountain Lake Lodge, where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed, a peaceful and quiet place is what you'll find here.

ROANOKE, VIRGINIA

Just 45 minutes northeast of Blacksburg, Roanoke is a great place to get away and experience a bigger city (100,000). From the Roanoke Star to Center in the Square, the Star City in the South is a commercial and cultural hub worth seeing.
