The 2024 Olympics will take place in Paris, France and multiple Hokies will be competing in the Summer Games.

Below you will find updates throughout the three weeks, ensuring daily wall-to-wall coverage.

Tuesday, Aug. 6 - In men's basketball action, Canada faced off against host nation France in the quarterfinals. Nickeil Alexander-Walker picked up two points at the free throw line in three minutes of play. France won the game 82-73 knocking Canada out of the Olympic Games. NAW finishes these games with three points and 37 minutes in four games played.

With the elimination of Canada in men's basketball, Neil Gourley was the final Hokie to compete in the Paris Olympics. In the men's 1500m race, Great Britan's Gourley finished tenth with a time of 3:30.88 while American, Cole Hocker came out of nowhere for the win to set a new Olympic Record at 3:27.65. Hocker has been in Blacksburg since the fall training with Head Track & FIeld Coach Ben Thomas.

Sunday, Aug. 4 - Sami Hill and Team Canada took the the hardwood against Nigeria in the final game of the group phase. Hill, coming off the bench, picked up 3 points in just under 5 minutes of play. Canada fell 70-79 and will not advance to the knockout stage. Hill finished these Olympic Games going a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line. In three games of play, she picked up 15 points, one rebound and one assist in 30 and a half total minutes played.

In the afternoon, former Hokie cross country and track runner Neil Gourley advanced on to the finals of the men's 1500m. In the second of two heats, he finished third with a time of 3:32.11. This also puts him third overall, just 0.39 seconds behind first place. The finals of the 1500m will be on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 2:50 p.m. ET and will be shown on Peacock.

The bracket is set for Nickeil Alexander-Walker and the rest of the men's basketball field in the bracket stage. Canada will face off against host country France on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at noon ET. With a win, they'll face the winner of Germany vs. Greece on Thursday, Aug. 8. A loss on Tuesday ends their Olympics for 2024. A win on Thursday will put them in the gold medal game on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 3:30 p.m. ET. A loss on Thursday will send them to the bronze medal game on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 5:00 a.m. ET.

Saturday, Aug. 3 - Carles Coll Marti and Mario Molla Yanes teamed up with two fellow Spaniards in the men's 4x100 Medley Relay. Coll Marti swam the breaststroke in the second leg, while Molla Yanes swam the butterfly in the third leg. Spain finished fifth in the heat, but following the race the officials went to the video review. It was determined that the final exchange for Spain left early, disqualifying the team.

Friday, Aug. 2 - Mario Molla Yanes returned to the pool to swim in men's 100m butterfly. His time of 52.27 put him third in his heat, but 25th overall. He'll swim again tomorrow morning at 6:40 a.m. ET in the men's 4x100m medley relay with fellow Hokie and Spaniard Carles Coll Marti who will be making his first appearance in these Olympic Games.

Athletics started this morning and Hokie alum Neil Gourley, who was a member of the 2018 NCAA Championship Indoor DMR team, competed in the men's 1500m. He finished with a time of 3:37.18 putting him fifth in his heat. The top six in each heat automatically qualify for the semi-finals, skipping the repechage round. He'll return to the track on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 3:10 p.m. ET.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Team Canada took to the hardwood for their final game in the group stage. The score was tied at 19 after the first quarter, but Canada came back to take a 49-38 lead at the half. Spain led the scoring in the third and fourth quarters but it wasn't enough as Canada held on for an 88-85 victory. Nickeil Alexander-Walker picked up three rebounds and was 1-for-2 at the line in 13 minutes of play. With the win, Canada wins the group phase for Group A and will advance to the knockout stages. Their first game in the quarterfinals will be on Tuesday, Aug. 6. Their opponent and game time will be determined following the completion of the other group phase games being held today and tomorrow.

Thursday, Aug. 1 - Carmen Weiler Sastre got things started for the Hokie contigent in Paris swimming her second event for Spain - the 200 backstroke. Weiler Sastre swam in the final heat of the event and clocked in with a time of 2:10.09. Her time put her 6th in the heat and 12th overall, advancing her to the semifinals this evening. In the semifinal, Weiler Sastre improved on her time from the morning session and finished in 2:09.99. This put her seventh in the heat, 13th overall ending her competition in these Olympic games.

Later in the morning, Blacksburg native Ian Ho took to the pool swimming for Hong Kong in the 50 free. Ho finished 8th in the final heat with a time of 22.12. Overall he finished 24th and did not advance to the finals.

In women's basketball action, Sami Hill and Team Canada took to the hardwood against Australia. Hill scored five points in 16 minutes of play in Canada's 65-70 loss. Canada will play their final game of the group phase Sunday, Aug. 4 at 7:30 a.m. ET against Nigeria.

Tuesday, July 30 - In the morning session, incoming freshman Maxine Egner competed in the women's 100m freestyle. The Opening Ceremony flagbearer from Botswana finished third in her heat with a time of 58.98. Overall Egner was 29th and did not advance to the semifinals.

Rising senior Luis Dominguez Calogne competed in his second event of the 2024 Paris Olympics, swimming in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay. Dominguez Calogne swam the second leg of the relay for Spain finishing 7th in the heat with a time of 7:11.62. Overall, Spain finished 13th and did not advance to the finals.

Wrapping up today's events for Hokies in the Olympics, former men's basketball player Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Team Cananda faced off against Australia on the hardwood. After trailing 45-49 at the half, Canada bounced back in the second half, winning 93-83. Alexander-Walker entered the game off the bench in the first quarter and played nine minutes in the game. Canada's final game in the group phase will be Friday, August 2 aginst Spain at 11:15 a.m. ET.

Monday, July 29 - Spaniard Carmen Weller Sastre swam 59.57 in the 100 backstroke  - a new Spanish National Record - putting her in 8th overall and in the middle of the pack.

In the 100m backstroke semifinals Monday night, Weller Sastre swam 59.72, finishing 5th in her heat. Overall, she finished 9th - missing the finals by 0.22 seconds.

In women's basketball action, Canada fell 75-54 to host nation France. Sami Hill came off the bench in the second quarter for Team Canada. She finished the game with seven points going 4-for-4 at the line and 1-for-1 behind the arc. She also picked up one rebound and one assist in just under 10 minutes played. Canada next faces Australia on Thursday, August 1 at 7:30 a.m. ET.

Sunday, July 28 - Incoming freshman Emily Santos, swimming for Panama, finished 6th in her heat of the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:09.94 but did not advance to the semifinals.

Saturday, July 27 - Luis Dominguez Calogne and Mario Molla Yanes swam with two fellow country men from Spain in the men's 4x100 freestyle relay. They finished with a time of 3:13.19 finishing 6th in their heat and 9th overall missing the finals by 0.04 seconds.

In men's basketball, Nickeil Alexander-Walker came off the bench, playing 12 and a half minutes in Team Canada's 86-79 win over Giannis Antetokounmpo and Team Greece. He'll take to the court again on Tuesday, July 30 at 7:30 a.m. ET as Canada faces Australia in the second of three games in the group phase.
