Maggie Auslander

Director of Player Development
Virginia Tech head lacrosse coach John Sung announced the hiring of Maggie Auslander as the program’s Director of Player Development in August of 2019. Auslander is set to begin working with each student-athlete, forming relationships and assisting the coaching staff in administrative tasks.

Auslander, a 2017 graduate of North Carolina Chapel Hill, most recently played for Durham University in Durham, England while she completed a master’s program in the field of business management with a focus on human resources. While at Durham she served as a player coach, working with the defensive unit, ultimately leading the group to national title.

“I am extremely excited to welcome Maggie to our family in Blacksburg,” Coach Sung commented. “She is going to round out our staff here and give us a fresh set of eyes and create relationships with our student-athletes, which is important. We want to use her background of winning everywhere she has been as a resource for us.”

At Carolina, Auslander played in 49 career games, and totaled 46 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers and 33 draw controls. Her Heels won three regular season ACC titles as well as two league tournament titles. In 2016, she was crowned a national champion.

Auslander’s 2017 season was memorable as she was a first team All-ACC performer as well as an All-ACC Academic team member and Academic All-American. She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology.

Sung and Auslander are no strangers to each other as Sung coached her during the 2018 UWLX season with the Baltimore Ride.
