Woods’ 12 kills paces Hokies in sweep of UNCW Friday night

Tech moves to 2-0 with second straight set victory

WILMINGTON, N.C. - In its second match of the day, the Virginia Tech volleyball program recorded another straight set sweep, defeating the hosts UNCW to move to 2-0 on the 2025 season.

Payton Woods, a junior led the Hokies in kills with 12, the first double digit kill performance of her career.

The Hokies took control of the match using a 7-0 run in the first set to take the lead at 16-11, one that would not be relinquished.

In the second, the Seahawks kept it close, but ultimately conceded the set with an attack error.

Tech took the third set 25-20, completing a perfect day in which the squad did not drop a set.
