PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Virginia Tech fell short in a second straight match, losing 5-2 against Yale.
The squad finds themself sitting at 3-2 on the season after looking for a rebound following Friday’s 4-3 loss to Penn.
Newcomers Victor Kimpel and Eyal Shumilov walked away with a 6-2 doubles win against Aidan Reilly and Krish Gupta, but the Hokies failed to earn the doubles point with losses on the other two courts.
Freshman Victor Kimpel continues to impress in his first matches of the season with a singles win in addition to his doubles victory. He won 6-2, 6-4 against Krish Gupta, and remains undefeated on the court this season.
Ilyas Fahim grabbed a singles win as well, defeating Eric Li 6-3, 6-3.
The Hokies return home to Blacksburg on Friday, Jan. 31 to play Princeton at 3 p.m.
