WILMINGTON, N.C. – Daniel Azallion and Kobe Valociek both tied for 20th at 7-over 223 to lead the Virginia Tech men's golf team at the Seahawk Intercollegiate, which concluded Monday at the Country Club of Landfall's Nicklaus Course (par 72, 7,030 yards).
Valociek, a senior from Peoria, Arizona, tied for second in the field in par-5 scoring at 8-under-par. Freshman Ashton Harper tied for second in the field in par-3 scoring at 2-under-par. As a team, Tech was 20-under-par on its par 5s, which tied for second in the field.
The Hokies tied for seventh in the team standings at 36-over 900 (308-301-291). Auburn won the team title behind an 11-over 875 (300-287-288). Stetson was the runner-up at 18-over 882 (304-286-292).
Campbell's Erik Johansson won medalist honors with an 8-under 208 (71-71-66). Auburn's Jackson Koivun finished second at 6-under 210 (72-70-68).
Tech heads to its regular-season finale April 8-9 at the Lewis Chitengwa Invitational hosted by Virginia. The 54-hole event will be contested at Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Va.
