The first steps for the Hokies 2024 football season have officially begun, and the name of the game is competition. Phase One of Virginia Tech football's winter workouts kicked off Tuesday morning at 6 a.m.

Commonly referred to as Hunger Drills, these early morning workouts focus on improving agility, building stamina and breeding the competitive nature of the student-athletes.

Competition-focused drills include weighted sled races and tug-of-war with a tire, which pit offensive and defensive players against one another.

Hunger Drills offers a great opportunity for returning players and newcomers alike to set the tone heading into spring ball.

Virginia Tech football's 2024 spring game, presented by PMSI, is slated for Saturday, April 13 at 3 p.m. ET.
