BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men’s soccer returns to Thompson Field for another exciting Friday night under the lights, squaring off against ACC rival NC State. The Hokies have been a force at home this season, boasting a 4-1 record, highlighted by a dominant 4-0 victory over Queens University of Charlotte in their last home appearance. With plenty of excitement planned for fans, here are five reasons to catch the Hokies in action against the Wolfpack this Friday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. ET.

1. Senior Night. Join us at Thompson Field to recognize the incredible contributions of our graduating seniors. Don’t miss your chance to show appreciation and cheer them on as they take the field for one of their final home games!

2. Friday Night Tykes. We're inviting all the youth soccer clubs in the area to pack Thompson! Enjoy fan-friendly games and activities, and an evening of Division I soccer with the Hokies.

3. In the rankings. Virginia Tech is ranked in the top 25 for a fifth consecutive week, its longest streak since 2021! The Hokies are No. 24 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, along with No. 14 in the NCAA’s RPI rankings.

4. In-Conference Clash – Friday night’s matchup marks the 27th all-time meeting between these two ACC foes and the first showdown since 2022. The Hokies hold a 3-2 edge over the Wolfpack in the last five contests, with every game a tightly contested battle. With just three conference home games left this season, don’t miss one of your last chances to see the Hokies compete in ACC play at Thompson Field!

5. Seniors to Watch – The Hokies’ senior class features a talented group ready to make an impact on Senior Night. Goalkeeper Cooper Wenzel has anchored the defense all season, recording five shutouts and earning ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors following a clean sheet against Syracuse. Veterans Willie Cardona, Carter Hensley and Trey Gardiner lead by example, combining for four goals and four assists. Forward Ethan Hackenberg is another key threat, with three goals to his name. Timi Adams, who made 13 starts last season, adds depth to the Hokies’ goalkeeper room, as well.
