BLACKSBURG, Va. --Sophomore Lyndsey Grein was dominant on Sunday, striking out 10 Boston College hitters over five innings of work to help lead the No. 15/16 Virginia Tech Hokies over the Eagles 13-4.
In addition to her 10 strikeouts, Grein (9-3) tossed five innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on six hits and walking one for Virginia Tech (31-9-1).
Offensively, the Hokies were led by junior Cori McMillan, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a grand slam, a walk and four RBI. Senior Emma Ritter put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Senior Cameron Fagan also contributed for Virginia Tech, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hokies were trailing 2-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Virginia Tech got on the board thanks to sophomore Kylie Aldridge's RBI double with two outs.
Boston College extended their lead to 4-1 before Virginia Tech rallied to score 12 times in the bottom half of the fifth to claim victory, walking it off
