No. 18/12 Virginia Tech hits seven home runs in 18-0 win over Pitt

BLACKSBURG – No. 18/12 Virginia Tech put on a clinic hitting seven home runs in 18-0 win against the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Right-hander Emma Lemley (5-1) started and picked up the win for Virginia Tech (19-4-1, 7-0), going four shutout innings while giving up three hits, walking two, and striking out eight. Jacobson was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit.

Junior Cori McMillan led the way offensively for the Hokies, going 3-for-3 in the ballgame with two home runs, a walk and six RBI. Senior Emma Ritter put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, a walk and four RBI. Sophomore Teagan Thrunk also contributed, going 1-for-3 for Virginia Tech with a home run, a walk and three RBI.



HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Virginia Tech hit three home runs in the inning on the way to scoring seven runs.

The Hokies also added runs in the second, third, and fourth innings on the way to the 18-0 victory.
