With Sunday's victory over North Carolina on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum, the Virginia Tech women's basketball team has earned the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament for the first time and a double bye in the tournament, marking the second time ever doing so. At 14-2 in ACC play, the Hokies have clinched at least a share of the program's first ACC title.

This comes on the heels of an ACC championship and Final Four run during the 2022-23 season.

Sunday's victory saw many other milestones for the program on a day where ESPN's College GameDay kicked off events in the morning broadcasting live from 11 a.m. to noon.

Georgia Amoore, on her Senior Day, dished out 11 assists to become the program's all-time leader with 836 passing Lisa Witherspoon's record that had stood since 1999. A program great, Amoore now ranks in the top five in scoring, second in 3-point shooting and now first in assists.

With the victory at Cassell, the Hokies own a 15-0 record on their home court, the third time in program history that they have gone through a regular season unblemished in the building. Overall, the Hokies have won 25 consecutive contests at home, which ties a program record set back in 1994.

The win was also the 800th in program history.

Monday saw more HERstory made, as the Hokies rose to fifth in the AP poll, the highest ranking that the squad has ever achieved prior to the conference tournament. Last season Tech reached fourth after winning the ACC championship.

Center Elizabeth Kitley was named the ACC's Player of the Week on Monday, marking the sixth time that she has collected the honor this season, tying the ACC record for most in a single season.
