The Virginia Tech women's basketball team is ranked ninth in the AP Poll the organization announced Monday afternoon.

The Hokies are 1-1 after opening the season with a 94-55 victory over High Point in front of over 6,100 fans at Cassell Coliseum. Last Thursday night, Tech took on third-ranked Iowa in front of over 15,000 in the Ally Tipoff in Charlotte, falling by four points. In that game Georgia Amoore scored 31 points, a career-high and Elizabeth Kitley became the program's all-time leader in double figure scoring games with her 99th such game.

With Amoore and Kitley each averaging greater than 21 points per game, the Hokies are one of five teams in Division 1 to feature two 20 point per game scorers who have each played two or more times.

Tech is back home on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum on Thursday, Nov. 16 for a 6 p.m. tip against the Houston Christian Huskies. That game can be seen on ACC Network Extra. Ticket packages are available HERE.
