BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech will make a return trip to the Spectrum Center on Friday, Nov. 10 when the Hokies square off with South Carolina in the 2023 Hall of Fame Series in Charlotte, presented by HeGetsUs.com. The announcement was made Wednesday by Position Sports, in association with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
It will be an electric two days for Tech fans as the previously announced women's basketball matchup between 2023 Final Four teams VT and Iowa is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 9 inside the Spectrum Center. Friday's action will feature a tripleheader of Charlotte vs. Liberty, Virginia vs. Florida, then capped by Tech vs. South Carolina.

Tickets for the Hall of Fame series are scheduled to go on sale in July. On-sale date, game times, fan experience information, credentials, and television broadcast details will be released at a later date.
The Hall of Fame Series, which is owned and operated by Position Sports, is a collection of multi-game, singular events that will showcase several of the top collegiate basketball teams in exciting non-conference matchups played both domestically and abroad. In March, the Phoenix-based company and the Hall of Fame reached an exclusive 10-year agreement.
The Hokies last played in the Spectrum Center on Dec. 17, 2021 as part of the Hall of Fame Shootout, which was also the last time this event was contested in Charlotte. Tech was clicking on all cylinders that night, dismantling St. Bonaventure 86-49.
"Charlotte and the Spectrum Center have been terrific hosts to us in the past, and we look forward to returning there in November," head coach Mike Young said. "This will be our second appearance in this event in three years. Great competition, terrific venue, ideal location, what more could you ask for?"
VT and South Carolina, former foes in the Metro and Southern Conferences, last played on Dec. 5, 1997 in Charlotte – a 74-73 win for the Gamecocks. South Carolina leads the overall series, 18-13, including a 3-2 edge in neutral site meetings.
Five Hokies have ties to the Carolinas. MJ Collins and Patrick Wessler both played at Combine Academy in Charlotte, while Camden Johnson hooped at Metrolina Christian Academy just outside of the Queen City. Mylyjael Poteat (Reidsville) and Jaydon Young (Goldsboro) are both from the Tar Heel State.
The Hall of Fame Series joins other previously announced Naismith Hall of Fame events, including the Hall of Fame Tip-Off, Hall of Fame Women's Showcase, and the Hall of Fame Classic.
