ARLINGTON, Texas – Making the most of his opportunities this spring, kicker John Parker Romo was named to the 2023 All-XFL Team on Monday, as announced by the organization.
Romo, who was an All-ACC kicker for Virginia Tech football in 2021, led the XFL in field goals made (17) and made a long of 57 yards, marking the second-longest in the XFL this season. He was 9-of-10 beyond 40 yards.
The Georgia native played for the San Antonio Brahmas and played in all 10 games. The Brahmas went 3-7, finishing third in the South division.
Following his impressive season, Romo will try out for the Detroit Lions at their minicamp this weekend, starting on Friday. This would be his second stint in the NFL, as he was with the New Orleans Saints in 2022, with being picked up as an undrafted free agent.
