LAST TIME OUT

The Hokies completed the sweep over Georgia Tech last weekend, defeating the Yellow Jackets 7-4, 8-2, and 5-1. Emma Lemley recorded the wins in games one and thee, with Molly Jacobson earning the win in game two. Lemley also earned a save in game two, her first of the season. The win in game two was Jacobson's first ACC career win in the circle. The R-So. went 5.2 innings, giving up only two runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Lemley threw the final 1.1 innings, striking out one without giving up a hit. Tech hit nine home runs over the weekend, with Peck hitting three and Greene adding two. The Hokies outscored the Yellow Jackets 20-7 with a .639 slugging percentage.

ERROR FREE D

The Hokies played 21 innings of error free defense against Georgia Tech, boosting their team fielding percentage to .978 on the season to rank third in the conference. Emma Ritter (OF), Jayme Bailey (1B) and Bre Peck (OF) all maintain a perfect fielding percentage so far this season, all with at least 25 putouts. Virginia Tech is 15-2 overall when not recording an error and 19-4 when its opponents record at least one error.

OFFENSIVE TRENDS

The Hokies are 22-2 this year when scoring at least three runs in a game, vs 0-3 when scoring two runs or less. Scoring in the first inning is also beneficial for Tech who is 9-0 when scoring in the first inning and 19-1 when scoring first. Tech is also 17-0 when out-hitting opponents and 14-1 when 2+ home runs are hit by the Hokies. On the other end, the Hokies are most successful when they limit their opponents to two runs or less, registering a 16-0 record when doing so.

UP NEXT

The Hokies host Chattanooga this weekend in a three-game series beginning on Friday with a single game at 6 p.m. The two teams will then play a doubleheader on Saturday to close out the series at Noon and 2 p.m.
