Elizabeth Kitley named a Naismith Women’s Defensive Player of the Year Semifinalist

Senior center Elizabeth Kitley was named a semifinalist for the Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year Award the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Monday afternoon.

Kitley is one of 10 athletes selected to the list which includes Brea Beal (South Carolina), Aliyah Boston (South Carolina), Cameron Brink (Stanford), Brooke Flowers (St. Louis), Taiyanna Jackson (Kansas), Rayah Marshall (USC), Aneesah Morrow (DePaul), Angel Reese (LSU) and Celeste Taylor (Duke).

The Summerfield, North Carolina native leads the ACC in blocks per game at 2.3. She is also the conference leader in rebounds 10.7 and defensive rebounds 7.9.

Kitley has led the Hokies to a 24-4 mark including going 14-4 in the ACC for the first time in program history earning a double bye in the upcoming ACC Tournament.

She was also named ESPN's Player of the Week
