BLACKSBURG – Junior setter Brie Postema eclipsed the 1,000-assist mark in Virginia Tech's 3-1 setback to NC State Friday night inside Cassell Coliseum. The Hokies (9-7 overall, 2-3 ACC) dropped their second straight match at home by scores of 23-25, 13-25, 25-22 and 17-25.
Cera Powell finished with 11 kills on the day to lead the Hokies' offense. Defensively, Tech had two players reach double figures in digs as Maddie Slagle had 15 and Hanna Borer had 10. From the front row, Cara Lewis contributed six blocks and Anabel Zier added six rejections.

How It Happened
The Hokies fell behind early, losing a hard-fought first set, 25-23. NC State grabbed the advantage for good at 24-23 in a set that was tied up eight times before the Wolfpack took over in the second half of the stanza.
A 25-13 set-two loss put Virginia Tech in a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Hokies lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
After dropping the opening two sets, Virginia Tech rallied to win set three and make it a 2-1 match. The Hokies claimed set three, 25-22. Tech took the lead for good at 23-22 in a set that featured nine ties and six lead changes. The Hokies' front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five NC State attacks in the stanza.
Tech couldn't build off the set-three victory and lost in the fourth set, 25-17, to drop the match.
