GREENSBORO, N.C. – Fresh off winning the program's first ACC Coastal Division title, the top-seeded No. 3 Virginia Tech baseball team has learned its path through the 2022 ACC Baseball Championship at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina, as the conference revealed this week's tournament schedule on Sunday morning.

Finishing with the best record in the ACC across both divisions, Virginia Tech (40-11, 19-9 ACC) will play its first of two Pool A games on Thursday, May 26, when Tech takes on 12th-seeded Clemson at 7 p.m. The Hokies and the Tigers did not meet during the 2022 regular season, having last shared a postseason meeting at the 2010 ACC tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina.

On Friday, May 27, Tech will square off against eighth-seeded North Carolina at 7 p.m. During the first week of April, the Hokies won the opening two games of their three-game series in Chapel Hill, earning 12-1 and 7-3 victories against the Tar Heels before conceding the finale, 10-6.

Tech is seeking its first postseason win against UNC, having gone winless during three previous tries – once in the 1969 NCAA District III Regional and twice at the ACC tournament (2013, 2015). The Hokies finished runner-up to the Tar Heels during the 2013 ACC championship game in Durham, North Carolina.

To champion Pool A – one of four pools feeding into Saturday's semifinal round – Tech will need to either sweep its two pool games, or split its two pool games while Clemson and North Carolina also split their two games. As the No. 1 seed, the Hokies own the tiebreaker to qualify for the semifinals should the Pool A standings be deadlocked after Friday night.

Tech has advanced out of pool/division play once during its league tenure, rattling off three wins to champion Division B during the 2013 tournament and reach the championship game. This season, the Hokies are making their sixth all-time appearance in the ACC tournament, qualifying during consecutive seasons for the first time across its league history.

All pool play games between Tuesday, May 24, and Friday, May 27, will air live on ACC regional sports networks (check affiliates here). Should Tech advance to the semifinal round on Saturday, May 28, the Hokies would play the Pool D champion at 1 p.m. with the game airing live on ACC Network.

The ACC will crown its postseason champion on Sunday, May 29, at 12 noon with the title game airing live on ESPN2.
