GREENSBORO, N.C. — Virginia Tech graduate student Emily Mahar has been named to the 15-member All-ACC women's golf team as announced by the league office Thursday.
The Brisbane, Australia native became the first Hokie to be named All-ACC twice. Mahar has competed in 26 rounds for the Hokies this season, registering a team-best 72.77 scoring average, which ranks eighth in the ACC. She has posted four top-5 showings and six top-10 finishes.
Mahar has charted a team-high 14 par-or-better rounds, including a school-record, 7-under 65 in the opening round of the Florida State Match Up in February.
Behind her strong play throughout the season, Mahar continued her ascent up the World Amateur Golf Rankings, eventually earning her a berth to the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur in March.
ACC champion Wake Forest swept all three major awards and placed four of its golfers on the All-ACC team. Headlining the list was 2022 ACC Women's Golf Player of the Year, Rachel Kuehn. Her teammate, Carolina Lopez-Chacarra was selected ACC Women's Golf Freshman of the Year, while the Deacs' head coach Kim Lewellen took home coach of the year honors.
Florida State and Duke each had three honorees on the All-ACC team, followed by Virginia with two and one each from Tech, Louisville and North Carolina.
