No. 6 Virginia defeats Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG – In a rare midweek ACC match, No. 6 Virginia downed Virginia Tech at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center, 4-0.
 
Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback returned to the doubles lineup and made an immediate impact. The 19th-ranked duo downed No. 44 Bar Botzer and Chris Rodesch, 6-1, on Court 1. After the Cavaliers took the match on Court 2, it came down to Alberto Orso and Matt Harper on Court 3. The two teams exchanged breaks throughout the match, but Virginia ultimately prevailed, 7-5.
 
Virginia continued to roll in singles, picking up three straight set wins on Court Nos. 3-5 to clinch a 4-0 victory.
 
Had there been more time, the Hokies were contending for several ranked upsets on Court Nos. 1-2. Fishback took the first set off No. 37 Inaki Montes, while Alvaro Saez-Royuela Ariza was up a set on No. 24 Jeffrey von der Schulenberg.
 
Virginia Tech will wrap up its regular season on Friday at 3 p.m. against Boston College. The match will be Senior Day, where Tech will recognize Carlo Donato before the match.Gallery: (4-13-2022) MTEN: UVA Match
