Among the highlights of Tech's 12-game slate are a contest with West Virginia on Thursday night in Lane Stadium, a handful of match-ups with first-year ACC head coaches and two historic "firsts" that have never happened before. Here are some notable numbers that provide a deeper look at the Hokies' 2022 schedule:
 1
Seasons playing all three ACC members in "The Triangle" away from home. This fall will mark the first time the Hokies have ever played road games at Duke, NC State and North Carolina in a single campaign. The Triangle is comprised of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, N.C., with Tech owning a 34-8 all-time record in ACC play against those three programs.
 3
Games against new head coaches in the ACC. Pry will meet fellow first-year head coaches Mike Elko (Duke) and Tony Elliott (Virginia), along with a contest against new Miami (Fla.) head coach Mario Cristobal, who returns to the East Coast following five seasons at Oregon.
 8
Opponents who received postseason bowl game invites in 2021. Boston College, Liberty, Miami (Fla.), NC State, North Carolina, Pitt, Virginia and West Virginia all garnered postseason invitations last fall. The Hokies earned a spot in the 2021 New Era Pinstripe Bowl last season, marking the 29th consecutive year with postseason eligibility.
 11
Consecutive victories over Virginia at Lane Stadium. Tech has won 21 of its last 23 meetings with the Cavaliers and will look to keep the Commonwealth Cup for a third straight season when the two teams meet on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
 15
Different DI-AA/FCS opponents for the Hokies since 1980. Tech will host Wofford in Week 3 on Saturday, Sept. 17, marking the first-ever meeting on the gridiron between the two programs.
 28
Anniversary of Virginia Tech's first ESPN Thursday Night appearance back on Sept. 22, 1994, also against West Virginia. The Hokies won that game, defeating the Mountaineers 34-6. This fall's game will mark Tech's 33rd appearance on the worldwide leader's Thursday night telecast.
