BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women's golf team is set to open its spring slate Sunday-Monday at the Columbia Classic presented by Moon Golf.

This three-day tournament will be hosted by Columbia University and will be held at Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida from Feb. 13-14.

Virginia Tech comes into the spring having finished in the top-10 in every tournament it competed in for the fall. They ended their fall season with a ninth-place finish after senior Emily Mahar carded a 5-under-par 211 to finish runner-up at the Landfall Tradition hosted by UNC Wilmington in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Tech was led by senior Emily Mahar in the fall as she posted one top-five finish, two top-10 finishes and three in the top-20. In four events, Mahar shot her lowest round of 68 and averaged 71.75. Her top-five finish was at the Landfall Tradition where she finished in second place.

Another key contributor for the Hokies last fall was junior Becca DiNunzio. She delivered one top-five finish and two top-20 finishes. DiNunzio shot her lowest round of 66 at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. Her average on the season was 72.50.

The Columbia Classic will feature 15 teams, headlined by No. 2 Oklahoma State. The Hokies are the only ACC program entered in the field.

Teams will play 36 holes on Sunday beginning at 8:15 a.m. and 18 on Monday.
