Darryl Tapp helps 49ers reach NFC Championship Game

Divisional Weekend Recap
The No. 6 seeded San Francisco 49ers and assistant defensive line coach Darryl Tapp went into Lambeau Field Saturday night and upset the NFC's No. 1 seed Green Bay Packers. For the second straight week, Tapp's unit was a difference maker in the game as the 49ers sacked Packers' QB Aaron Rodgers five times and allowed just 67 rushing yards. Packers' T Yosh Nijman saw reserve action on special teams in the game.

LB Tremaine Edmunds and the Buffalo Bills played in one of the most memorable playoff games in NFL history on Sunday night as the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs combined for 25 points in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter. Despite the 42-36 overtime loss, Edmunds racked up nine tackles in his final action of the 2021 NFL season. The Danville, Virginia native combined for 125 total tackles in the regular season and postseason.

Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians and assistants Cody Grimm and Nick Rapone saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion after coming back from a 27-3 deficit to tie the game at 27-27, only to see the L.A. Rams to kick the game-winning field goal as time expired. Tennessee and secondary coach Anthony Midget also lost on a field goal as time expired to Cincinnati.

Championship Sunday

No. 6 San Francisco 49ers at No. 4 L.A. Rams – 6:30 p.m. ET – FOX
Tapp and the 49ers face a familiar foe in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday night as they'll face off with NFC West rival, the L.A. Rams. Despite being the lower seed and road team this week, San Francisco went 2-0 against Los Angeles this season, winning a 31-10 game in Week 10 and prevailing by a 27-24 margin in Week 18. Tapp's defensive line had success in those games as it limited the Rams to just 116 rushing yards combined and sacked QB Matthew Stafford seven times in the two matchups.
