BLACKSBURG – The Hokies bounced back in convincing fashion Wednesday night with a 93-60 win over Cornell.
Tech moves to 7-1 in games following a loss in the past two seasons and wraps up its non-conference home slate undefeated (5-0).
SHARING THE WEALTH
• Seven players scored in double figures for Virginia Tech last night. The last time the Hokies accomplished that feat was on Dec. 17, 2016, against The Citadel.
SEASON HIGHS ALL AROUND
• The Hokies set season-high tallies in points scored (93), 3-point field goals made (12), 3-point field goal percentage (.522), offensive rebounds (12) and blocked shots (6).
• The last time the Hokies shot above .500 from beyond the arc was Feb. 27 (.542) against Wake Forest.
• Its .540 field-goal percentage and 16 assists were good for Tech's second-highest single-game numbers in those categories this season, while 33 points is its second-highest win margin all season.
WE SEE YA, YOUNG BUCKS
• Sophomore Darius Maddox popped off for a career-high 14 points in 23 minutes played (also a career high). His four made field goals also tied his career high that was set against Maine this season. Maddox is shooting .575 from the field, the highest of any player averaging 5.0+ minutes per game.
• Freshman Sean Pedulla also registered a career-high scoring night with 11 points. He shot 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and leads the team in 3-point field-goal percentage with .615 (min. 10 attempts).
ALUMA KEEPS SHINING
• With 16 points, Keve Aluma led the Hokies in scoring for the third-consecutive game. Shooting 8-for-9 from the field, Aluma tied his season high for field goals made and set a new career high for single-game shooting percentage (.889, min. 5 FGA).
HISTORY MADE
• Jenna Reneau officiated Wednesday night's game in Cassell Coliseum. She is believed to be the first female referee for a Virginia Tech men's basketball home game.
