Tech wrestling ready to take the mat

Blacksburg – The Virginia Tech wrestling team will send multiple competitors to this year's Southeast Open (formerly the Hokie Open) set for Sunday at the Cregger Center in Salem, Virginia. Doors open at 8 a.m. and wrestling will begin at 9 a.m.

KEY WRESTLERS FOR TECH

  • Returning NCAA qualifiers Sam Latona, Korbin Myers, Connor Brady, Mekhi Lewis, Hunter Bolen, Dakota Howard, and Nathan Traxler will all be in action for the Hokies.
  • Latona, Brady, and Howard were first-time qualifiers, with Latona, Myers, and Bolen earning All-American honors for the first time in their careers.
  • Bolen enters his senior season looking to become the 16th four-time NCAA qualifier in program history.
  • Traxler, a four-time qualifier and Pac-12 champion at Stanford, will be making his first appearance for the Hokies.
  • Mekhi Lewis, Tech's first national and world champion, returns to action after withdrawing from the 2021 national championships due to injury upon reaching the quarterfinals. He returns to the line-up at 174-pounds.
