BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's soccer team punched its ticket to the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship for the sixth consecutive season on Monday afternoon.
The Hokies (10-5-3, 3-4-1 ACC) will play Big South champions Campbell (15-3-2, 7-0-1 Big South) on Thursday, Nov. 18, at Thompson Field.
With its selection, Tech builds on the program-record postseason streak that now stands at six seasons. Under the leadership of head coach Mike Brizendine, the Hokies have made four 'Sweet Sixteens' since the streak started in 2016.
The Hokies are one of five teams to make the tournament each of the last six seasons, joining Maryland, Washington, Wake Forest, and Indiana. Only one team from the Commonwealth of Virginia is in this year's field, an occurrence that hasn't happened since 2009 and only twice since 1990.
Virginia Tech's journey to the NCAA Tournament season came in impressive fashion, as the Hokies downed a top-ranked Marshall side and went undefeated in non-conference regular season play.
In Blacksburg, the Hokies went 7-1 in front of the Thompson Field faithful. Those results included overtime wins against Virginia and eventual ACC champions Notre Dame. In the first round of the ACC Championship, Tech pulled out an overtime win against Boston College.
Virginia Tech is 10-7-3 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Last season, the Hokies grabbed an overtime win against Oregon State before falling in penalties to No. 6 Seton Hall in the Sweet Sixteen.
The winner of Thursday's match will play 11-seed West Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 21.

Tickets to Thursday's NCAA tournament first round match between Virginia Tech and Campbell will be available on-site for $10 to the general public and for $5 to fans ages 18 and under.
