Hokies earn All-ACC Academic honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – 12 Hokies have been named to the 2021 Swimming & Diving All-ACC Academic team as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
 
The men's team is represented by seven Hokies, Taj Cole, Filippo Dal Maso, Thomas Hallock, Keith Myburgh, AJ Pouch, Sam Tornqvist and Forest Webb. This is the second honor for both Dal Maso and Hallcok as they were recognized as a member of the 2020 All-ACC Academic team as well.
 
Five athletes made the women's team, Teagan Moravek, Sarah Shackelford, Chase Travis, Joelle Vereb and Loulou Vos. This is the second honor for Moravek and the third honor for Vereb.
 
The ACC Scholar-Athlete awards were established in September of 2007 to be awarded annually to the student-athletes in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their careers, as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.
 
Along with academic achievements, the conference also takes into consideration the athletic performance of the student-athletes this season. The athlete must meet one of the following criteria to be considered; All-American honor, All-ACC honor, A finalist at ACCs in an individual event or Swimmer or Diver of the Week recipient.
