GREENSBORO, N.C. – After throwing three straight complete-game shutouts, including a no-hitter, Virginia Tech softball's Keely Rochard has been named ACC Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Rochard (14-3) is named the conference's pitcher of the week for the third straight week. It is the first time a pitcher has been the sole award-winner three weeks in a row since March of 2015 when Notre Dame's Rachel Nasland accomplished it.
In the weekend series against Commonwealth Clash rival Virginia (8-12, 0-6 ACC), Rochard started and completed all three games without allowing a run. She gave up just four hits on the weekend, capped off by her second no-hitter of the season on Sunday. Rochard had 28 strikeouts and walked only one batter.
Rochard and the Hokies (19-4, 3-0 ACC) play at George Washington (8-13) Tuesday and George Mason (7-11) Wednesday before returning to Blacksburg for their home opener Friday against NC State (17-6, 3-0).
