BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women's tennis team registered an impressive 6-1 win over Penn State at the Burrows Burleson Tennis Center this afternoon.
The Hokies (6-1) got off to a quick start with Elizabet Danailova and Nika Kozar teaming up in doubles to defeat their opponents on court two, 6-2. On court one, Shene Disbergen and Natalie Novotna secured the doubles point with a 7-5 win.
Tech kept it rolling in singles, on court four Nina Sorkin defeated Shannon Hanley 6-0, 6-4. Erika Cheng followed soon after downing Gracey Hirsch 7-5, 6-2, on court six.
Kozar clinched the win for the Hokies on court two with a 7-6(3), 6-3 win over Samantha Smith.
Danailova battled from behind to earn a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Frederikke Svarre, on court three. Disbergen wrapped up the day on court five earning a hard fought 6-7(1), 6-3, 1-0(7) win over Olivia Ryan.
Tech will return to action on Monday to play Radford at 4 p.m. at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
