THE DUKES
James Madison began their season this past Saturday, falling to top-ranked North Carolina 15-7 at home.

The Dukes had an edge on the draw circle against the Heels and forced 12 turnovers, but did not shoot as well in the loss. Midfielder Charlotte Haggerty led the Dukes with three goals and Darra Lucchesi added two points for the squad that was picked to repeat as CAA champions in the preseason.

In goal, preseason All-America Molly Dougherty secured 12 saves.

THE SERIES WITH JMU

  • In last season's meeting, the Hokies had an early lead at the Beamer-Lawson Indoor Practice Facility before falling 14-8. Paige Petty led the team with four points (three goals, one assist). Morgan Berman made seven saves in goal.

NEXT TIME AT THE BEAMER-LAWSON INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY

  • The Hokies are back home at the Beamer-Lawson Indoor Practice Facility on Saturday, February 15 when they play host to the Liberty Flames.
  • Tech has won all seven of the previous meetings with Liberty, including a dominant 15-2 decision in 2017 the last time the two shared a field together. Attacker Kristine Loscalzo led six Hokie goal scorers with four in the game and Taylor Caskey registered two of her own.
