BLACKSBURG – Back on the road for the second game in a row, the Virginia Tech men's basketball will play at Miami (Fla.) on 8 p.m. ET at the Watsco Center.
The Hokies (14-6, 5-4 ACC) will go up against the Hurricanes (10-9, 2-7), with both being teams coming off losses this past Saturday.
The Hurricanes lead the all-time series 22-17, but the Hokies have won three straight, including the most recent contest in Coral Gables, an 82-70 win on Jan. 30, 2019. The last time these two faced off, the Hokies got the best of the 'Canes, 71-56.
Tech coach Mike Young is 1-1 all-time versus Miami's Jim Larrañaga. When Young was at Wofford and Larrañaga at George Mason, Young's Terriers defeated the Patriots 82-79 in overtime in 2010 at the Charleston Classic. But Larrañaga got the last laugh, winning with the 'Canes 74-57 in '16 at AmericanAirlines Arena.
The matchup will be broadcast on ACC Network, with Rich Hollenberg (play-by-play), Cory Alexander (analyst) and Katie George (sideline) on the call, while Jon Laaser (play-by-play) and Mike Burnop (analyst) will broadcast on Virginia Tech Sports Properties.

The last time out, Tech, which entered the game with a five-game winning streak over Boston College, had its streak snapped with a five-point loss. The Hokies were held to just 25 second-half points and coughed up 14 turnovers, well above their nation-leading average (9.7) in the 61-56 setback.
Tech, which has held 11 opponents to 63 points or less, ranks fourth in the ACC and 39th nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 63.0 points a game (BC had 61 Saturday). SCOUTING MIAMI (FLA.)
• The Hurricanes are coming off a 23-point loss to North Carolina (9-10, 2-6) this past Saturday in Chapel Hill, falling by a score of 94-71 despite Isaiah Wong scoring a career-high 19 points. Two other Hurricanes scored in double figures – Anthony Walker (14 points) and Rodney Miller (13).
• Larrañaga enters his ninth season as the head coach in Coral Gables, following a 14-year stint at George Mason where he took the Patriots to the Final Four in 2006. With the 'Canes, he has led them to four NCAA Tournament appearances and an ACC title in 2013.
• Miami is paced by DJ Vasiljevic, who ranks first in the ACC in 3-point field-goal percentage and 31st nationally with a 41.4 clip, and Chris Lykes, who owns a team-high 15.7 points per game, sitting eighth in the league.
• Similar to the Hokies with a high ranking in the fewest fouls committed per game category, the Hurricanes are 11thnationally and fourth in the ACC with 14.0 fouls a contest. Miami also rarely turns it over, with ranking fifth in the ACC and 56th overall with 12.0 turnovers per game.
