BLACKSBURG - It's a busy fall weekend in Blacksburg with Virginia Tech Athletics set to host five events beginning Friday with a 4 p.m. swimming & diving meet at Christiansburg Aquatic Center. Cross country will conclude its home slate while men's basketball will play its home opener. Football host Wake Forest on Saturday and the weekend will conclude with a unique event as wrestling hosts Northwestern outside at English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park.

Nov. 8 | 4 p.m. - Queens/Richmond
The Virginia Tech swimming & diving team will return home after last weekend's competition against No.24/No. 8 Ohio State and Penn State. The nationally ranked No. 24 Virginia Tech men's team defeated each Big Ten squad to improve to 3-0 on the season, while the women's team looks to bounce-back this weekend against Queens and Richmond. The men's and women's teams will be hosting Queens (M&W) and Richmond (W) in the season's first home tri-meet out of the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, this Friday, Nov. 8.

Nov. 8 | 4:30 p.m. - Hokie Open
Last weekend, the Virginia Tech cross country teams hosted the ACC Championship, where the nationally ranked No. 22 men's team placed third, and the No. 23 women's team placed fourth. This Friday, Nov. 8, the Hokies gear back up to host the Hokie Open from the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course in preparation for the NCAA Southeast Regional next weekend from Charlottesville, Va.

Nov. 8 | 7 p.m. - Coppin State
The Virginia Tech men's basketball team (1-0, 1-0 ACC) defeated ACC competitor Clemson in the season and conference opener last Tuesday, Nov. 5. In Mike Young's Virginia Tech head coaching debut, he tallied his 300th career win amongst his first win as a Hokie by defeating Clemson, 67-60. Next up, the Hokies are back in action at Cassell Coliseum for the first time since advancing to the 2019 Sweet Sixteen, as the Hokies welcome Coppin State this Friday, Nov. 8.

The Virginia Tech football team (5-3, 2-2 ACC) will face its second consecutive ranked opponent this Saturday, Nov. 9, against No. 22 Wake Forest (7-1, 3-1 ACC). The Hokies are looking for a huge win as they return back to conference action in sight of preserving the control of their own destiny in the coastal division.

Nov. 10 | 1 p.m. - No. 21 Northwestern
Climbing up the national rankings, the No. 11 Virginia Tech wrestling team is coming off a convincing win over then-ranked No. 9 Missouri to kick-off the season last weekend from Cassell Coliseum. This Sunday, Nov. 10, the Hokies will shift venues outdoors for the inaugural Mat on the Mound event hosted at English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park. The Hokies will challenge No. 21 Northwestern in this one-of-a-kind event.

The Virginia Tech men's tennis team will conclude fall play this weekend at the Harvard Chowderfest Tournament from Boston, Mass. Looking to end the fall season on a high note, the Hokies are packing a full and experienced squad for this weekend's tournament. Competition will begin Friday, Nov. 8 for doubles, followed by singles, and play will resume on Saturday, Nov. 9, before concluding on Sunday, Nov. 10.

The Virginia Tech volleyball team (9-16, 2-10 ACC) is back on the road for an ACC swing through the northeast. The Hokies will kick-off the weekend against Boston College (17-8, 8-4 ACC) on Friday, Nov. 8 before making the trip across the northeast to Syracuse for a Sunday, Nov. 10 match against the Orange (9-11, 6-7 ACC).

The Hokies are coming off a season opening 105-41 win over Saint Francis (Pa.). Tech will make the trip to NOVA to face George Mason on Sunday. Leading the Hokies in the early season is freshman Elizabeth Kitley who turned in 27 points. Guard Taja Cole tallied seven points, nine assists and five rebounds.

Nov. 10 | 5 p.m. - No. 7 Wake Forest (ACC Quarterfinals)
The No. 22 Virginia Tech men's soccer team (9-5-2, 2-4-2 ACC) will travel to face three-seed No. 7 Wake Forest (13-3-1, 6-2-0 ACC) in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship after knocking off Louisville 2-0 in the opening round. The Hokies connected on both goals before the break to defeat the Cardinals. The Deacs and Hokies did not meet in the regular season this year.
