Hokies Events: Nov. 22-24

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech will host several home events prior to the Thanksgiving break. Tech will host Pitt for the final home football game of the season on Saturday. The following day is busy for the Hokies with three home events on Sunday, beginning at noon with volleyball. Men's soccer gets into postseason action following a first-round NCAA bye, hosting New Hampshire. The weekend at home will wrap up with women's basketball facing off against Davidson in Cassell.

Nov. 23 | 3:30 p.m. - [RV] Pitt

Following a dominating 45-0 victory at Georgia Tech last weekend, the No. 25 Virginia Tech football team (7-3, 4-2 ACC) entered the AP Top 25 Poll for the first time this season. The Hokies, who hold the third longest active scoring streak (319 games), snapped Georgia Tech's 283-game scoring streak, previously the seventh longest active streak, en route to the team's fourth consecutive ACC victory. This weekend, Saturday Nov. 23 from Lane Stadium, the Hokies host [RV] Pitt (7-3, 4-2 ACC) in search of the team's fifth conference win and a chance to control their own destiny for full control of the ACC Coastal division.

Volleyball

Cassell Coliseum 
Nov. 24 | Noon - Wake Forest

The Virginia Tech volleyball team (10-18, 3-12 ACC) returns home following a victory at Clemson last weekend in the team's final road game of the season. With just three games remaining on the schedule, the Hokies will host the first of the remaining home conference matches against Wake Forest (12-15, 2-14 ACC) this Sunday, Nov. 24 from Cassell Coliseum. The Hokies previously defeated the Demon Deacons in the teams' first meeting of the year at Winston-Salem, with the final score 3-2, and look to repeat the same success this upcoming Sunday.

Nov. 24 | 4 p.m. - No. 16 New Hampshire

Advancing to its fourth straight NCAA Tournament and securing the 10th overall seed, the No. 23 ranked Virginia Tech men's soccer team (9-5-3, 2-4-2 ACC) will host No. 16 New Hampshire (15-1-3, 5-1-1 AEC) in the second round of tournament play. Tournament action will be held this Sunday, Nov. 24 from Thompson Field as the Hokies anxiously await their first game of the tournament following a first round bye.

Nov. 24 | 5 p.m. - Davidson

The Virginia Tech women's basketball team (4-0) will host Davidson (4-1) this Sunday, Nov. 24 from Cassell Coliseum. The Hokies look to improve their flawless record in another round of non-conference action before heading to Daytona Beach, Fla. next week to partake in the squad's first tournament of the season, the Daytona Beach Invitational.

Swimming & Diving

McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion
Nov. 21-23 | Ohio State Invitational

The No. 19 Virginia Tech men's (4-0) and women's (3-2) swimming and diving teams are set to compete this weekend at the Ohio State Invitational, hosted by The Ohio State University. The three-day invitational will feature seven unique schools as competition will begin Thursday, Nov. 21 and conclude Saturday, Nov. 23. The meet will feature both LCM and SCY events as athletes look to qualify for Olympic Trial cuts.

Nov. 23 | 11:15 am - NCAA Nationals

The No. 22 ranked Virginia Tech men's cross country team placed second last weekend at the NCAA Southeast Regionals to earn an automatic team qualifier to NCAA Nationals, this Saturday, Nov. 23 from Terre Haute, Ind. The Hokies were led by redshirt-senior, Peter Seufer, who placed first at the regional meet, earning NCAA Southeast Region Athlete of the Year. On the women's side, senior Sara Freix earned an at-large bid to compete at NCAA Nationals following her seventh place finish at the regional meet.

Wrestling

Nov. 23 | 10 a.m. - Navy Classic

The No. 4 Virginia Tech wrestling team (3-0) defeated No. 3 Ohio State in Columbus last weekend in the team's third straight victory over a ranked opponent. This Saturday, Nov. 23, the Hokies will gear back up as they send 12 athletes to represent the team at the 18-team Navy Classic tournament. The Hokies will be the highest ranked team in the field after advancing seven spots in the most recent poll following the team's big upset over the former No. 3 Buckeyes.
