BLACKSBURG – After wrapping up its fall games last month, the Virginia Tech softball team has announced its spring schedule on Monday.
The 55-game slate under second-year coach Pete D'Amour features marquee nonconference Power Five matchups, midweek tilts with regional opponents and four ACC home weekends at Tech Softball Park.
Highlighting the nonconference slate is Tech playing in arguably the most prestigious tournament during the regular season, the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational presented by Wilson.
The Hokies will face five teams in the Sunshine State Feb. 13-15, including Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Missouri, Minnesota and Northwestern. All five teams made the NCAA Tournament a season ago.
Kicking off the season on Feb. 7, the Hokies will head to the Palmetto State, a place they played at for two weekends last year for nonconference tournaments, playing on the campus of Coastal Carolina. Then after Clearwater, Tech will head back to South Carolina to play at College of Charleston Feb. 21-23 and will wrap up in Jacksonville, Florida Feb. 28-March 1.
ACC play begins on March 6 with a showdown against in-state rival Virginia in the Commonwealth Clash presented by Virginia529 in Charlottesville. The Hokies will play host to NC State, Clemson, Duke and Florida State at TSP, while playing on the road at Notre Dame, North Carolina and Georgia Tech.
Midweek games include Appalachian State, Charlotte, George Washington, George Mason, James Madison, Longwood, Ohio and Radford.
The ACC Championship will take place in Louisville, Kentucky, as the Cardinals will play host from May 6-9.
