BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech baseball team will head across the state to Norfolk Tuesday to take on Old Dominion in the 2019 Commonwealth Classic presented by TowneBank. Hosted by the Monarchs, this will be the fifth Commonwealth Classic, which will be played at Harbor Park, home of the Baltimore Orioles' Triple-A farm team, the Norfolk Tide. First pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
Old Dominion enters the game with a 26-17 overall mark and are 9-12 in Conference USA. The Monarchs are looking to cap off a strong month of April in which they've won four consecutive series, including three on the road. Last weekend, ODU won 2-of-3 at No. 28 Florida Atlantic. Tech enters the game with a 24-21 overall record and is 7-17 in the ACC. The Hokies are riding a five-game winning streak in non-conference games and have won 17 overall, including a 5-1 mark on the road.

Quick notes on the ODU series
- Tuesday's game will close out the Hokies 2019 regular season road slate.
- This will be the 79th meeting between the two schools, in a series that started in 1945.
- The Hokies hold a 61-17 overall mark in the series, including a 28-10 mark on the road.
- Tech has won four straight, including last year's 6-5 walk-off victory in 10 innings in Blacksburg (April 18).
