The last time out, the Hokies (21-4, 5-1 ACC) won their first road ACC series in sweep fashion over NC State (16-11, 0-3) this past weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina. The sweep was Tech's first one in league play on the road since April 13-14, 2018, when it defeated Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, three times in a row.

Pitcher Carrie Eberle (13-1), who earned Union Bank & Trust Virginia Tech Athlete of the Week earlier Monday, tossed 19 innings and earned all three of Tech's wins in the circle. She racked up 11 strikeouts and a 0.74 ERA.

Earlier today, the NCAA released its first Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) rankings of the season, with the Hokies coming in at the No. 28 spot. They are one of only four teams out of the ACC in the top 30, including No. 1 Florida State (27-3), No. 21 Notre Dame (16-9) and No. 27 North Carolina (15-9).

Tech owns the 10th-best batting average in the nation with a .342 clip, while they hit the seventh-most home runs per game with a 1.52 mark. Individually, outfielder Darby Trull has the 34th-best batting average in the land and ranks third in the ACC (.456).

Last week, the Hokies were named the 25th-best team in the nation, according to the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, while they were receiving votes in the NFCA's Top 25. Both polls will have new rankings coming out on Tuesday.
