Hokies move to No. 19 in USTFCCCA Poll

NEW ORLEANS – For the third-straight week, The Virginia Tech women's track and field team moved up in the in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor Computer Rankings on Monday afternoon.
 
Tech is the third-highest ranked team in the ACC as they are behind No. 13 Miami and No. 16 Florida State.
 
There was one new face in the top-five teams as Florida jumped seven spots to become the No. 4 team in the country. No. 1 Arkansas and No. 2 Southern California remain unchanged, while LSU moved to No. 3 and New Mexico remained No. 5. The SEC has the most teams ranked in the Top 25, owning eight spots, while the ACC is tied for the second most with three.
 
This past weekend at the ACC Indoor Championships, Rachel Pocratsky (800), Sarah Edwards (Mile), Rachel Baxter (Pole Vault) and the distance medley relay team of Edwards, Arlicia Bush, Shannon Quinn and Pocratsky all earned gold medals.
 
The women currently own 10 times and marks that rank in the top-50 nationally in the traditional events. The mile headlines the group as Edwards and Pocratsky both hold the No. 8 time in the country, while Pocratsky and Quinn hold the No. 4 and 40 times in the 800. Sara Freix holds the No. 46 time in the 3,000 and the No. 40 time in the 5,000, while the sprints group is represented by Kennedy Dennis who is 26th in the 60-meter dash. Rachel Baxter has the fifth best mark in the pole vault, while Eszter Bajnok is No. 50 in the long jump and 25th in the triple jump.
