Hokies move to No. 20 in USTFCCCA Poll

New Orleans – After a week of being ranked No. 24 in the country, The Virginia Tech women's track and field team found itself four spots higher as they moved to No. 20 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor Computer Rankings on Monday afternoon.
 
Tech is the second-highest ranked team in the ACC as they are only behind No. 11 Florida State.
 
The top-five teams had shake-up as New Mexico moved up seven spots to become the new No. 5. No. 1 Arkansas and No. 2 Southern California remain unchanged, While No. 3 Oregon and No. 4 LSU swapped places. The SEC has the most teams in the Top 25 with eight, while the ACC is tied for the fourth most with two.
 
On Friday at the JDL DMR Invitational, the distance medley relay team of Sarah Edwards, Arlicia Bush, Shannon Quinn and Rachel Pocratsky ran 11 minutes, 0.01 seconds for the third-fastest time in school history to finish second behind Arkansas. Their time in the event is currently the tenth-best in the country and the best in the ACC. On Saturday, Bush ran the fifth-fastest 400 with her time of 54.06 to earn her a first-place finish, while Ellie Brush won her first collegiate race by running 2:53.55 in the 1,000.
 
The women currently own 11 times and marks that rank in the top-50 nationally in the traditional events. The mile headlines the group as Edwards and Pocratsky both hold the No. 6 time in the country, while Pocratsky and Quinn hold the No. 9 and 42 top times in the 800. Sara Freix holds the No. 39 time in the 3,000 and the No. 40 time in the 5,000, while the sprints group is represented by Kennedy Dennis who is 18th in the 60-meter dash and Bush who is 45th in the 400. Rachel Baxter has the 10th best mark in the pole vault, while Eszter Bajnok is No. 38 in the long jump and 19th in the triple jump.
