Justin Robinson named ACC Player of the Week

Virginia Tech guard Justin Robinson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, for the week ending Jan. 27, 2019. This is the first time Robinson has been honored by the ACC.

The senior graduate from Manassas, Virginia scored a career-high 35 points in the win over Syracuse on Saturday night in Cassell Coliseum. He also had eight assists to give him 548 for his career, moving him past Malcolm Delaney and Bimbo Coles into first place on Virginia Tech's all-time list.

In the game, he made a career-high nine 3-point field goals, setting a new single-game record for the Hokies. The nine three-pointers is tied for fourth-highest in ACC history. His 35 points is the second-highest point total for a Hokie in an ACC regular season game.

In a loss at North Carolina earlier in the week, Robinson scored 17 points and had a team-high six assists. For the week, he was 13-of-19 from the field, including 12-of-17 from 3-point range. He was 14-for-17 from the line with 14 assists.

This is the second time this season that a Hokie has received the honor. Nickeil Alexander-Walker was honored for the week ending Nov. 18, 2018. The Hokies, 16-3 overall and 5-2 in ACC action, return to action on Wednesday night, as they travel to Miami for a 7 p.m. start in a game televised by ESPN2.
