Tech falls to No. 14 Columbia at ITA Kickoff

NEW YORK – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team fell to 14th-ranked Columbia, 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in New York City.
 
Tech (2-1) looked to get the upset in doubles with Alex Ribeiro and Ryan Kros pairing up on court one to face fourth-ranked Jack Lin and William Matheson. The Hokie pair was knotted with the Lions duo at 6 before the matches was ended after Columbia secured the doubles point, winning on courts two and three.
 
In singles, the Lions (1-0) got the three points needed for the team win, taking the matches on courts one, two and four in straight sets.
 
Tech will be back on the court on Sunday when the Hokies face Kentucky at 10 a.m. in NYC.
