Hokies wrap up Women's ITA Regional

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Junior Natalie Novotna faltered in the quarterfinals on Monday at the 2018 ITA Atlantic Region Championships in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Novotna squared off against William & Mary's Natalie Perry in the quarterfinal round, giving up the first set 6-3. In the second set, the Tech junior looked to even the match forcing a tiebreak before falling to Perry 7-6(4).

The women's tennis team will next compete at the Kentucky Invitational Nov. 2-4.

DAY TWO
LYNCHBURG, Va. –
Junior Natalie Novotna advanced into the quarterfinals, picking up two wins on Sunday at the 2018 ITA Atlantic Region Championships in Lynchburg, Virginia.
 
Novotna knocked off Marshall's Victoria Walker in the round of 32, winning in straight sets with scores of 6-2, 6-1. In the next round, Novotna gave up the first set in a tiebreak 7-6(2) to UVA's Amber O'Dell. The Tech player rallied to win the next two in decisive 6-3, 6-3 matches.
 
In the quarterfinals, Novotna will face William & Mary's Natalia Perry on Monday.

DAY ONE
LYNCHBURG, Va. –
The Virginia Tech women's tennis team advanced on Saturday, rewaching the quarterfinals in doubles at the ITA Atlantic Regional in Lynchburg, Virginia.
 
Sophomores Nika Kozar and Nina Sorkin teamed up in doubles to advance to the quarterfinals. The two had a first round bye, but got off to a strong start in the second, defeating UVA's Hunter Bleser and Camile Favero 8-5.
 
In the next round the Tech duo battled past Old Dominion's Natalya Malenko and Nataliia Vlasova as the match went to a tiebreak before the Hokies claimed it 8-7(4).
 
Top-seeded Natalie Novotna moved on in singles as she knocked off William & Mary's Lauren Goodman in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
 
Kozar also advanced in singles rallying after dropping the first set 6-4 to George Mason's Sydne Green. Kozar powered back as she took the second set 6-2 and claimed the third 6-4.
 
Tech will be back on the court Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.
