TECH TRAVELS TO DURHAM TO FACE THE BLUE DEVILS
• Virginia Tech (No. 24 USA Today Coaches) returns to ACC action at AP No. 22/Coaches No. 23 Duke (9/29) following a 49-35 loss at Old Dominion (9/22).
• VT is 1-1 vs. AP ranked Duke squads, winning 17-16 at No. 19 Duke (11/15/14) and dropping a 4-OT 45-43 decision vs. No. 23 Duke (10/24/15).
• Duke got a 55-13 win vs. North Carolina Central (9/22).
• Tech already owns one ACC victory with a 24-3 win at Florida State (9/3), while Duke is 4-0 against non-conference foes entering its league opener vs. the Hokies.
• The Hokies are 12-2 vs. Duke since joining the ACC in 2004, including a 6-0 mark at Duke and a 2-0 record under head coach Justin Fuente.
• Duke owns a seven-game winning streak after winning its final three contests of the 2017 campaign.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES: VIRGINIA TECH-DUKE
• Saturday marks the 25th meeting in the all-time series between Virginia Tech and Duke.
• The home team had lost the last four games in the series before the Hokies' 24-3 victory in Blacksburg last season.
• After winning 12-consecutive games vs. Duke between 1982 and 2012, the Hokies have three of the last four meetings.
• The two teams will kick off at 7 p.m. for later for the second consecutive season, the first time that's happened in the series' history.
• Head coach Justin Fuente is 2-2 in his career vs. Duke but is 2-0 against the Blue Devils as head coach at Virginia Tech.
• Fuente is 6-1 in his career at Virginia Tech and is 10-3 going back to his 2014 campaign at Memphis when following a loss.
• Two of Virginia Tech's 34 shutouts with Bud Foster on staff have come against Duke. Tech's lone shutout in Durham since 1987 was a 45-0 victory on 9/10/05.
