No. 7 Florida State hands Hokies first conference loss of the year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In its ACC opener at the Seminole Sports Complex on Thursday night, the Virginia Tech women's soccer team was held to a season-low six shots as the No. 7 Florida State Seminoles defeated the Hokies 3-0.

Florida State (8-1-1, 1-1-0 ACC) put Tech in an early 1-0 hole just four minutes into the contest as Deyna Castellanos scored from 20 yards out off a free kick, which hit off the bottom of the crossbar and then into the net.

The Seminoles added an insurance goal just before the break as Alexa Orrante tallied her first of the year in the 41st minute. Castellanos tallied her second of the evening in the 65th minute to finish off the Seminoles' scoring.

The Hokies (4-2-3, 0-1-0 ACC) had just two shots on goal, also a season low, with Bridget Patch and Allyson Brown taking those.
