BLACKSBURG – As one of just two public universities with a full-time Corps of Cadets, Virginia Tech has a rich military tradition, and recognizing that, the Virginia Tech Athletics Department announced Thursday a year-long initiative to honor the men and women who bravely serve this country.
With the goal of creating memorable experiences for this special group, the department will begin a partnership with the Veteran Tickets Foundation (VetTix). Virginia Tech fans wishing to show their support for "Tickets for Troops" and send a military member to an upcoming ticketed home event may do so by donating on HokieSports.com by clicking here.
Donations may be made in $25 increments and all donations will be matched by Virginia Tech Athletics to cover the full cost of each ticket provided.
All donated tickets for events throughout the year, including the Hokies' Military Appreciation Day matchup against East Carolina on Sept. 15, will be distributed to veterans and active duty service members and their families via VetTix.org. About Vet Tix:
The Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix) is a national 501c3 nonprofit founded by veterans dedicated to support and honor the U.S. military community, veterans and their families. The Vet Tix mission is to provide tickets to sporting events, concerts, performing arts and family activities aimed at improving mental welfare and enriching the lives of military service members and veterans.
Attending Vet Tix events reduces stress through entertainment, strengthens family bonds, builds life-long memories and encourages service members to stay engaged with American life and local communities. These are gifts in which we can all take pride.
Vet Tix serves ALL branches of the U.S. military, including those currently serving, honorably discharged veterans and their families, as well as the immediate family of those killed in action. Since 2008, Vet Tix has given out more than two million tickets and is active in all 50 states.
