Other Hokies to crack the rankings include Joey Dance (fifth, 125 pounds), Kevin Norstrem (21st, 133 pounds), Dennis Gustafson (24, 141 pounds), Nick Brascetta (fourth, 157 pounds), Chris Moon (14th, 165 pounds), Zach Epperly (14th, 174 pounds), Austin Gabel (25th, 184 pounds), Jared Haught (33rd, 197 pounds) and Ty Walz (15th, 285 pounds).

Carter made school history last year when he became the first NCAA finalist in program history. He will bump up to 149 pounds for his final season. Brascetta, an All-American at 149 pounds two years ago, is back off a redshirt year, and too will bump up. He is ranked fourth at 157 pounds to begin the season.

The Hokies’ 2014-15 home schedule features dual meets against traditional powers Ohio State (Nov. 23), along with matches against Newberry (Nov. 8), as well as North Dakota State and Gardner-Webb (Nov. 16). Additionally, Tech will host ACC foes Virginia (Feb. 1), Pittsburgh (Feb. 6), NC State (Feb. 8) and Duke (Feb. 14). The Hokies will also host the Hokie Open on Nov. 9 in Rector Field House.
