TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Virginia Tech women’s tennis team, ranked No. 60, fell to No. 44 Florida State 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
Florida State took the doubles point with No. 2 and No. 3 wins. Dude Santos and Kristina Schleich topped Carol Kahoun and Raluca Mita 8-3 at No. 2 before Daniela Schippers and Mia Vriens secured the point with an 8-5 win over Francesca Fusinato and Sansitha Nandakumar.
The Seminoles tallied wins on courts 3, 4 and 6 to secure the match, and all other matches were left unfinished. At No. 3, Vriens took a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Kelly Williford. Laurence Porry added a 6-1, 6-3 win over Kahoun, and Daniele Schippers topped Mita 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the team victory.
The Hokies finished up the regular season at Florida State on Sunday, but Tech will return to the court in the ACC Championship on Wednesday.
