Hokies fall at Georgia Tech, 72-57

ATLANTA, Ga. – Virginia Tech lost at Georgia Tech, 72-57, on Tuesday night in the Alexander Memorial Coliseum in Atlanta. The loss drops the Hokies to 13-6 overall and 3-3 in league play, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 10-9 overall and 3-3 in ACC action.

The Hokies took a 39-36 lead into the intermission. The game remained close throughout most of the second half, before Georgia Tech went on a 15-2 run over the final 5:01.

The Hokies were led by senior forward Jeff Allen, who recorded his eighth double-double of the season and the 36th of his career with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Victor Davila added 13 points for the Hokies. Iman Shumpert recorded a triple-double for the Yellow Jackets with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists, along with seven steals. Brian Oliver came off the bench with a game-high 28 points for Georgia Tech.

Virginia Tech returns to action on Sunday afternoon, as they host Miami in Cassell Coliseum. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and be broadcast nationally by FoxSports Net.
