Hokies tied for seventh entering final round at the Brickyard

MACON, Ga. – The Virginia Tech golf team has a two-round total of 588 and is tied with Florida State and Ole Miss in seventh place in the Brickyard Collegiate Championship on Sunday afternoon at the par 72, 7,175-yard Brickyard at Riverside golf course in Macon, Ga.

The Hokies shot an opening round 296 and improved to a second round 292 in the second round played on Sunday.

Freshman Mike Moyers (Standardsville, Va.) is tied for 15th place overall with a two-round total of even-par 144 following a 75 on Sunday. He shot a three-under-par 69 on Saturday. He is 10 strokes behind leader Russell Henley of Georgia..

Junior Marshall Bailey (Fincastle, Va.) is tied for 21st place at 145 and junior Garland Green (Tazewell, Va.) is tied for 28th place at 146. Junior Aaron Eckstein (Salem, Va.) is tied for 64th at 153 and sophomore Blake Redmond (Sugar Land, Tex.) tied for 75th place at 156.

Freshman Jacob Everts (Ooltewah, Tenn.) is playing the tournament as an individual and is tied for 79th place at 159.

First round leader Augusta State continues to lead the tournament, as they have a two-round total of 13-under-par 563, 13 strokes ahead of Clemson and Chattanooga. Georgia is fourth at 579, VCU is fifth at 584 and LSU is sixth at 585, three strokes ahead of the Hokies, Rebels and Seminoles. North Florida and Charlotte are tied for 10th at 589, Georgia Tech is 12th at 593, host Mercer is 13th at 594, Penn State is 14th at 596 and Michigan is 15th at 602.

The final round will be played on Monday.
