BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech men's tennis team has been selected as one of 41 recipients of the 2008 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team award. Additionally, the Hokies had three players named 2008 ITA Scholar-Athletes. Pedro Graber, Sebastien Jacques and Ignaci Roca were selected for the honor.
The team award marks the fourth time the men's program has received the honor, after previously receiving the award in 2001, 2005 and 2007. Roca (San Jose, Costa Rica), a senior on last year's team, received the honor for the third time in his career, while Jacques (Fr., Magog, Quebec, Canada) and Graber (So., Santiago, Chile) are first-time winners.
All-Academic team winners must have a 3.20 cumulative team grade point average. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
