Sarah Lage

Senior Director, Student-Athlete Career Development

Responsibilities: As the senior director of student-athlete career development, Lage is responsible for implementation of the Career Game Plan, a targeted career development program and assists student-athletes with all aspects of their professional lives including major and career exploration, resume and cover letter writing, networking, interviewing, and post-grad plans. Lage also collaborates with the Monogram Club and Hokie Club to enhance alumni relations and provide mentoring opportunities for current Virginia Tech student-athletes. She also serves as the departmental liaison to Career and Professional Development. A member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) and Women Leader’s in College Sports, Lage is a alumnus of N4A Professional Development Institute (2021) and an active member of N4A Student-Athlete Development Programs & Practices Committee. 

Joined VT Athletics Staff: 2018

Prior to Virginia Tech: Before joining the Hokies, Lage had served in various career services roles since 2008 including time at East Carolina University, Florida Atlantic University and Midwestern State University (TX).

Education: North Carolina State University, 2001 (Political Science and a minor in Business); East Carolina University, 2003 (Master’s in Public Administration and concentration in Human Resources)

Personal: A native of Edenton, North Carolina, Lage currently lives in Christiansburg with her husband, Richard.
